Navigating the Workplace

One of the most difficult parts of starting a new job is navigating the workplace. The workplace is full of unwritten rules and expectations. You may find it hard to know who to talk to when you have questions or need something. You may have to learn new ways of planning, organizing yourself, and managing your time.

Settling into a new job means navigating new sounds, sights, smells, and sensory spaces. Every workplace has social situations and places where it can be hard to know how to act or what the expectations are.

The resources on this page are meant to help you find your way through the workplace once you start your job.

The Inclusive Workplace is an initiative of Ready, Willing and Able, a partnership of the Autism Alliance of Canada and Inclusion Canada. This work is made possible by the generous support of the Government of Canada’s Opportunities Fund.
